A Typical Day at The Nurture School
Morning - Arrival and Forest Walk
Students gather in the carpark and head off on a scenic bushwalk. This walk builds connections with nature and friends while energising everyone for the day ahead.
Outdoor Classroom Adventures
Hands-on, project-based learning inspired by the natural world. Activities include:
- Reading, writing, music, and science
- Projects that feel real and relevant
- Learning spaces under trees, logs, or wherever feels right
What Students Develop
- Social-emotional skills: resilience, independence, teamwork
- Environmental citizenship: respect for the earth
- Academic integration: supports learning at their regular school
- Indigenous knowledge: cultural traditions, ecological wisdom, language
- Free play: student-led, imaginative exploration
Movement and Physical Activity
Activities may include bushwalks, archery, yoga, team challenges, and mountain biking—encouraging confidence and physical wellbeing.
Parent Involvement
Parents are always welcome to join the adventure and share in the joy of learning with their tamariki.
End of Day
At 2:30 PM, students return to the carpark—happy, possibly muddy, and full of stories about their day of discovery.
